With most of my papers turned in and one easy final on Wednesday I have been attempting to catch up on my Christmas sewing. This week has had its failures and accomplishments...
Let me start with some gift sneak peeks.
I love to decorate for Christmas and since I have been a thrifty student for years, most of my decorations are handmade or found. We are going to my moms for about 10 days during Christmas so we are not buying a tree this year (I have no place to store a fake one). My daughter and I collected oak branches, acorns and pinecones to decorate the house.
I think it looks festive and I even used it for our holiday banner.
Finally, the failures of the week.
I cannot for the life of me sew a simple tissue holder, purse size. No joke. I have made these before successfully but I cant seem to make one right this week. Oh well. They are non essential.
The other uh oh was a gift for my mom. She is now getting something completely different so I can post this. I was making her a tote with some embroidery on the front but it was going to be pretty involved. The color of the linen I was using was the dark chocolate brown and I could not see the design well enough to even trace over the iron on with white pencil. So I made an iron on with stabilizer and hoped that I could cut it away. Well I did a small portion and tested it to see if I could get the stabilizer off and I cant without damaging the embroidery and the linen.
So back to a new plan for mom.
I already know what its going to be too.
