Hi Everyone,
I wanted to introduce a new member of our family.
This is Demeter. She is Tom's new Peregrine Falcon. If you don't know about Falconry it is an ancient form of hunting that goes back thousands of years. You can read more about it here.
This summer Tom and Demeter will be working in Washington State to protect the growing harvest from wild birds who want to eat it before its picked. Then she will be coming back to California to work on the Central Coast's thriving agricultural fields this fall.
He is a very happy man right now... I am just happy that there is a job in the future. With jobs being so scarce I am thankful that he is able to make a living doing something he loves. I hope that everyone can strive for that.
Wow, what a cool job! I didn't even know this job existed. Demeter is a very pretty bird. :)

I am a bit of a lurker, but here i am! That is an amazing job! WOW! We lived in Greenfield for 3 years, and most of our neighbors were field workers. I can't imagine their lives if the wild birds destroyed all the crops! Can you get some action shots of Demeter working?
