Hello all my loyal blog readers. Thank you for sticking around while I go through this exhausting and stressful move. We are traveling up to San Jose this weekend with the hopes of finalizing our housing plans. It is also an excuse to see Tom, I havent seen him since the beginning of December. Yup thats right, no Tom for Brae's 5th birthday, Christmas, New Years, its been rough. But these are mixed with hopes for the future ahead which looks bright and cheery. I am more excited about 2010 then I have been for many of the New Years past. But that is for another post.
If you havent heard, California is being slammed by this crazy winter storm. We have had days of rain and even a bit of snow in the middle of the afternoon. The wind right now is howling. It is supposed to gust up to 75 miles per hour. I am a little worried that all this rain is going to make the trees fall easier. Thankfully they should have deep roots from all of our drought. I am sure they will hold out fine.
All the above holidays went well dispite the lack of house and husband. I had a nice time with my family and friends. Brae had a great birthday and Christmas. I always feel like she is getting ripped off on the celebrating since her birthday is so close to Christmas. We made sure to separate the two. Does anyone have any experience with Christmas birthdays?
I do have some fun crafty things to show you. I finished Tom's Deadliest Catch Crab. I dont even remember if I mentioned that I was making one. Its been a while since I have blogged.
Isnt he ADORABLE!!! I have been converted into a stuffie knitter! I wish I had used a smaller guage needle. I used a US6. I really need a US5 but everytime I go to JoAnns they are out and I cant order from Knitpicks yet. I need to move first. You can see a little bit of his stuffing but I am hoping it will go down later as it flattens.
I also finished my Jungle Lagoon Socks.
The funnest part about these to knit is watching the color layering unfold. This yarn is beautiful and easy to knit with. I used Knit picks Stroll Handpainted in Make Believe. The pattern is tailored from The Knitters Handy Book of Patterns. They are so cozy to wear and I love that they are machine washable. In fact they get super plush after you was them.
Those were my two big projects finished. I also did two smaller projects. These mushrooms and an eggplant.
I got Amigurumi Knits for Christmas along with Carefree Clothes For Girls. The Eggplant or "Aubergine" above comes from Amigurumi knits. I love the patterns in the book. They are really unique, but beware they are not for novice knitters and you must be prepared to think, learn, screw up and amaze yourself.
I promice that I will eventually start sewing and embroidering again, but not until I get me new house. Until then posts and photos will be slower then normal and mostly knitting or house related. I hope I can keep you from getting too bored! In my next post I will tell you about what I have planned for this year.
